Never used a sewing machine before? Or just a bit rusty and keen to get back on that pedal? Then this class is for you!

During this beginner’s workshop with Leah Halliday you will learn to use a sewing machine and you'll complete simple textile projects while you pick up heaps of new skills!
You will learn how to do all these things...
· How to thread a machine
· How to change a needle
· How to use the presser foot
· How to fill and load the bobbin
· How to stitch in lovely straight lines & how to get to grips with back stitching
· How to adjust stitch length
· How to stitch a simple hem
· Basic pinning, cutting & ironing techniques

Your tutor, Leah is a professionally trained fashion designer and she's been sewing for as long as she can remember. Its a complete pleasure to her, passing on her skills at workshops she hosts, spreading the joy of sewing, recycling and making your own. Having previously worked as a lecturer in both Further and Higher Education she has gained many years’ experience delivering training to a wide range of adults. She has hosted creative and sewing workshops to both adults and children for many years in Dumfries and teaches at other venues and events across the U.K. Her experience as a sewing tutor and fashion lecturer makes Leah the perfect person to help you master sewing basics.

Material Included | Fabric, thread & a 30cm feather filled cushion pad. You will also get a copy of the pattern so you can make cushions to your hearts content at home with your new found skills. Basic tools of the trade are also provided and the use of our Brother Sewing machines. So all you have to do is show up!

Materials Required| You'll need to bring along ideally 2 different pieces of fabric measuring 55cm x 40cm and 40cm x 35cm. More information will be sent by email.

Classes are small, maximum class number is 6 guests, to ensure you get the personal tuition you need to help with your project and you get the best out of each workshop we host.
