We are really excited to announce that The Guild Dumfries C.I.C will be popping up in Dumfries Town Centre once again! We are delighted to have secured the use of an empty propery within a prime location in the heart of the town and are able to host a Festive Pop Up Shop for 4 weeks from the 28th November through the the 24th December. We know that the festive period this year is going to be even more important to makers & creatives and we want to encourage people to shop small and support local businesses that live and work in our region.​


We can't wait to throw open the doors of our pop up shop and showcase talented makers, designers, producers from across the region & beyond. It will be a one stop shop for all things beautiful, unusual and handmade. A place where customers can purchase covetable products they might not find elsewhere in the town and they'll also be happy in the knowledge that they are buying directly from local makers. The Guild Dumfries C.I.C want to provide our community of makers, creatives and producers with a platform so they can flourish and grow. We want to showcase our talented community and raise awareness of the importance of shopping small and local. Sharing their story and the beautiful covetable products they take care and passion to make and produce.


Our Pop Up Shop in August last year was an overwhelming success, over the two-week period we saw between 500-1000 visitors to our shop every day. With many of our makers having to restock time and again due to the huge demand for their desirable products. We were astounded to find that shop sales generated over £15,000.00 for our makers in only 14 days! We are delighted that we've been able to secure our pop-up shop premises in The Loreburne Centre again this year and we want to thank them for their support. This time round we will take over a bigger premises and open for a longer period so we can allow visitors a safe place to shop. But this also allow us to collaborate with even more businesses!

The Guild Pop Up is no ordinary shop though, as a social enterprise we want to run a business, make a profit, but any surplus income we generate from this project, after covering running costs and overheads, is reinvested in the business and goes towards its social aims. We use that money to create a positive social impact and it will help us to develop the types of facilities, projects, events, activities and opportunities our community and town needs.


We are really looking forward to working with our community of makers, to create a experiential shop for four weeks during the festive period weeks.  If you're a maker, designer. artist, producer or indie business owner and are keen to find new ways to get your products in front of new customers in a prime location then apply today, the deadline is the 25th October at midnight. We are keen to collaborate with makers from across the region & beyond and strive to create an exciting and innovative experiential pop up shop in a town centre location in Dumfries. We hope that we can work together to offer makers support and opportunities to grow their business and build their audience.

Why should you apply?


• The Guild exists to promote you and your work.  We want to support you where we can and we want to help you sell your work and spread the word about your business. 

• We will provide a platform to get your products in front of new customers in a prime site location.

• We will promote your business at every opportunity on social media accounts.

• We will feature makers involved on our blog.

• We will charge an affordable one off rental fee of £140 for four weeks, £80 for two weeks or £45 for one week.

• All sales made are yours, minus any credit card transactions fees and a small 10% commission.

We will sell your products for you, so you are able to concentrate on making.

• We will help nurture and grow your business and will introduce you to a network of other like-minded makers in our private makers facebook group, at our events, gatherings, workshops and talks.

• You will be part of community making social change.



How does it work?


You pay a rental fee to be involved if your application is successful. You'll then either drop off or post your stock to us. We will then promote and sell your work, unlike a market stall you don't need to be there at the Pop Up Shop. You can of course decide to volunteer some time to during the project. We will tally up the sales figures at the end of your rental period and you'll recieve all income from the sales, less a 10% commission fees and  any transactions fees if payment was made by a card.
