Show your support and become a Friend of The Guild

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A FRIEND?

Becoming a Friend means that you are showing your support for The Guild (Dumfries) C.I.C. It also allows us to show potential funders, stakeholders and others that the community supports the work that we are doing.

WHAT IS THE GUILD (DUMFRIES) CIC?

THE GUILD DUMFRIES was founded in Spring 2018 and we are a not-for-profit community interest company based in Dumfries. We provide a platform, opportunities and support for makers, creatives and producers to help their businesses flourish and grow. We are social enterprise so want to run a business, make a profit, and then use that money to create a positive social impact. This way of doing business can focus on tackling social problems, strengthening communities, improving people’s life chances or protecting the environment, as opposed to generating profit for private individuals or bodies. Any surplus income we generate from the business we run and the projects we deliver, after covering running costs and salaries, is reinvested in the business and goes towards its social aims.

Our community space and shop FLOURISH opened its doors in November 2021 in the heart of Dumfries and is managed and curated by The Guild in partnership with Midsteeple Quarter. We champion and support our collective of makers and producers from across the region and beyond. But our new space isn't just a shop we also have a dedicated workshop space, flexible event space and offices on the first floor too. We deliver a variety of activities and a programme of events, including meet the makers, creative workshops, after school clubs and business development training. Our long term goal is to reclaim a property within the heart of Dumfries and create a permanent space and a true community asset within Dumfries.

The Guild also produces DUMFRIES MAKERS MARKET a monthly curated event in the historic market town of Dumfries. It provides our community of makers, creatives and producers a platform to showcase their products at our makers market. Supported by volunteers and celebrating community spirit and plays a part in supporting the regeneration of the town centre.
