The Guild have had to adapt and diversify to help our community of makers, artists and producers to continue reaching their customers, while safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the public. As one of the main purposes of the Market Festival is to bring the community together and celebrate what Dumfries has to offer, it was felt that March and April were still a little early to do this, so the March event moved online and was enjoyed by hundreds of eager shoppers, keen to support local independent businesses.
In April we've made the decision not to hold any event as we're busy working behind the scenes and organising our return to hosting real-life events in Dumfries town centre and hosting our next Dumfries Market Festival on Saturday 8th May 2021. But we want to continue to champion our community, so during April we've decided to create a directory of many of our makers and producers who have taken part in previous events. We hope that you'll continue to support these small businesses by shopping locally.
To explore our directory, scroll down the page and discover over 30 different small businesses. Just click on the images for direct links to where you can find out more and where you can shop small from the comfort of your own home!
There really is something for everyone including homewares, craft kits, jewellery, artisan drinks, original art, illustrations, jewellery, candles, paper goods, prints, chocolates and gifts and so much more! We hope you'll support and follow them all.

Volunteers are needed on Market Festival days as well as in the weeks in between, so whether you can only spare a few hours once a month or a few hours once a week, we’d love to hear from you!
Being a volunteer is a great way to meet new people who live in your area, put names to faces you see in the street and generally have a lot of fun. Everyone has a skill to share so we’d love to hear from you no matter what you do.

As restrictions are beginning to ease once again, the vaccination programme rolls out successfully and thankfully infection rates in the region continue to drop, we are looking forward to relaunching our real life market festival on Saturday 8th May from 10am to 4pm.
We will have lots of safety measures in place to protect visitors, volunteers and our community of makers and producers, so we hope you’ll come along, support and enjoy the event. We look forward to seeing you there, why not invite family and friends and let us know you are coming at the official event. Please do check back on the website where we'll be sharing details of our marvellous line up of traders too.
We are working hard behind the scenes to produce and organise our next Dumfries Market Festival.
We are really excited about making plans for each month. We'll be announcing lots more details and information in the coming weeks with news and updates about what's on, our makers market line up, activities and performers. We will transform the town into a community market festival on the second Saturday of each month through to November .
Be sure to sign up to our mailing list to be first to hear the news!
