Our Easter Sewing Club with Leah Halliday introduces children to the wonderful life skill of sewing using a sewing machine. The course is suitable for complete beginners and hosted over 4 days from 2pm until 4pm every day.
As well as learning the joy of sewing they'll also build their confidence, concentration and self esteem while making a pin cushion, a lined tote bag and appliquéd initial cushion cover.
During this 4 day complete beginner’s course children will learn to use a sewing machine and complete several simple projects along the way while picking up heaps of new skills!
They will learn how to do all these things...
· How to thread a machine
· How to use the presser foot
· How to fill and load the bobbin
· How to stitch in lovely straight lines & how to get to grips with back stitching and sewing curves
· How to adjust stitch length
· How to stitch a simple hem
· How to use different stitches
· How to use a sewing pattern
· Understand basic sewing terminology & follow instructions
· Basic pinning, cutting & ironing techniques
All fabrics, threads, trims & materials are included in the cost of this 5 week course. Basic tools of the trade are also provided and the use of our Brother Sewing machines. So there's no need to invest money on equipment, all your child has to do is show up!
Classes are small, maximum class number is 6 children, to ensure they get the personal tuition and encouragement they the need to help with creating each project. A minimum number of participants is required for this course to go ahead.
